John was born in Taiwan to Ao-nan, a fleeing Kuomintang army officer father and to Ju-ling with deep Communist party family ties. In the 70's, he took advantage of his country's Infrastructure development to launch his first company at age 24. From a relatively small assembly line of electronic components in the suburbs of Taipei, he worked his mother's family political contacts in the Mainland to set up shop in Shenzhen in the mid 80's.
As his company grew to become one of the world's largest manufacturer of consumer electronic goods for Western brands, John became increasingly concerned with the fate of his people in the global economic equation.
