Je ne pensais pas un jour reprendre un train. Le rythme hypnotisant des roues grinçant sur les rails me transporte dans un autre monde, un monde qui constamment m'interpelle, et duquel je m'extirpe, jour après jour, heure après heure, minute après minute. Je garde les yeux ouvert jusqu'à ne plus cligner, jusqu'à pleurer des larmes sèches.

J.D. m'attend à la gare. Nous devons célébrer la nouvelle année à Time Square. C'est un nouvelle année oui, mais surtout la conclusion d'une décennie où tout a défilé si vite. Je la quitte avec autant d'émotion que j'embrasse la nouvelle.

Trente ans, sans enfant, sans famille. Suis-je destinée à demeurer l'éternelle énigme, celle qui amuse et celle qui souffre. Vais-je trouver en J.D. une voie que je suivrais? Où ne suis-je pour lui encore qu'une nouvelle distraction et n'est-il pour moi qu'un autre reflet de mon ambition.

Jeudi 1er janvier 1960

Après avoir attendu le décompte de la dernière minute de l'année à Times Square par un froid sibérien, nous nous sommes rendus à une soirée dans Greenwich Village où d'anciennes fréquentations de J.D. célébraient sous une épaisse fumée de Marijuana. Tout au long de la soirée, J.D. est resté figé à mes côtés. Je ne savais pas si c'est ma présence qui l'incommodait où la horde de jeunes garçons et filles qui bourdonnaient autour nous.

Ce matin, nous avons à nouveau fait l'amour en nous réveillant puis nous avons pris le petit déjeuné dans la chambre de l'hôtel. J.D. m'a appris que sa femme était à nouveau enceinte et qu'elle pouvait accoucher d'un jour à l'autre. Il est reparti chez lui après que je l'eu accompagné à la gare où je suis resté quelques minutes figée sur le quai avant d’aller errer sur la 42e rue.

CCTV are the initials which form the logo of China's Central Television, a network of 22 channels broadcasting 24 hours a day. It is also the acronym for Close Circuit Television, a code name often posted next to (no) vacancy signs outside motels on American roads since the late 70s promoting the availability of porn films in the rooms. Today, it is associated with the increasingly large number of surveillance cameras monitoring the streets of western capitals and more importantly, over 10 million cameras pointing at China's 1.3 million people.

Stepping down from your flight at Beijing's Capital Airport, your facial features are first captured, measured and recorded as an immigration officer scans your passport. A centralized network of over 10 million cameras using Facial recognition system will then track your every move until you check out at the end of your journey. The Swedish Rhapsody

Starting from the time of their journey across the Baltic Sea, Eveliina would pull a small music box from her pocket to sooth Marie. After learning of Marie's passing and knowing that Marie had veered into a clandestine life, Klaus the U-Boat Radioman would use the same theme, The Swedish Rhapsody and a recording of her voice as a child to send her tips about the coordinates of U-3955's gold stash off Fårö island, to communicate with her through a numbers station.

Marie/Ulla would never break the code but Jouni eventually would.

At her mother's death, Jouni would find an intriguing music box playing the "Swedish Rhapsody" tune in one of her boxes along with letters from the mysterious U-boat Commander to her grandmother. She learns of their relationship when he was eventually released from Soviet labour camps in 1954 and that this man was the one her mother would sometimes refer to as her father or uncle.

La Partie d'échecs

Adèptes de Monopoly, ces émissaires orwelliens ne se douterons pas que le tablier se transformera alors, d'un clignement d'oeil alicien, en jeu de Clue, où un couloir secret permettra à mon roi, nègre, de ressurgir en pion blanc à l'autre bout du monde.
