Najwa was born in Budapest to Neda, an Iranian woman of Palestinian origins. She studied creative literature at the University of Budapest. She reads and writes Hungarian, Arabic, French, English, Persian and Russian.
She learned French as a teenager by reading numerous times a thorned copy Le Journal d'Anne Frank which her French speaking father left with her mother when they parted before Najwa's birth. She has since been writing an alternate ending to the iconic diary.
