Born in Casablanca in a Pieds Noirs family, he moved to Paris as a child.

There he became a journalist for print & electronic media and wrote several biographies. While doing research on the mysteries surrounding the death of one of his subjects in the Arabian Sea, he learned from local fishermen of an undeclared British steam merchant ship which sank off Yemen in the winter of 1944. According to the only survivor who was rescued by Yemeni fishermen, the ship, which was designated as RMS, was supposedly carrying huge quantity of gold destined for a Gurkha regiment in India.
